‘Live Black Belt Level’
Originally, to practice kung fu did not just mean to practice Chinese martial arts.
Instead, it referred to the process of one's training - the strengthening of the body and the mind,
the learning and the perfection of one's skills – rather than to what was being trained.
It refers to excellence achieved through long practice in any endeavor.
When one has accomplished this, they are said to have Gōngfu (功夫).

Achievements Along the Way to Black Belt
Before a Kung Fu student earns their Black Belt there are several other Belts to earn: White, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Green, Red & Brown. There are also Leader, Assistant Instructor and Instructor Patches that can be earned when a student is capable of assisting Master Troy in teaching other students and leading the class. Brooklyn is shown below receiving and wearing her new Student Leader Patch!

The slogan of Kung Fu for Kids is ‘Character through Achievement’. And that is Master Troy’s goal for all his students as he creates an environment where discipline and good behavior are nurtured and allows for a child’s natural enthusiasm to flourish. He offers them challenges while supporting their efforts and focuses on building good character as well as strong minds and bodies. Thus, character is built on a foundation of achieving self-discipline, dedication, perseverance and the experience of team camaraderie. Master Troy does not teach aggression or competition. His methods offer children a chance to experience a sense of accomplishment that can only be felt by having earned it themselves. They find personal achievement as they find the inner strength to progress through the ranks of belt levels. They are encouraged to always do their best and ‘Live Black Belt Level’ in all aspects of their life.
